One afternoon last year my husband and I were sitting on the couch talking about how I want to start doing volunteer work, sharing my love of photography with families that might not otherwise have photographs taken. It was right at that moment, I received a call from one of my now favorite women at Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio. We had never met before, but Mackenzie had seen my work because I photographed a local home goods shop called Georgie Emerson Vintage.
Mackenzie, the Social Media Coordinator, was looking for someone to partner with who could photograph events and offer photography services to the families at the house. It was a God moment for sure, and I was so excited to visit the house. The Central Ohio RMH is the largest in the world! Can you believe that? They have an incredible building featuring special rooms, like this amazing princess-themed room donated by the women of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
I have photographed for the house several times since then, but this event might be one of my favorites. It was held in the Princess room and the activities included being dressed and styled like a princess, tattoos, reading and singing by your favorite Disney Princesses, princess etiquette, and the night ended with tiara shaped cut out cookies from Short North Piece of Cake.
The princesses & Prince Charming, provided by Paulette's Princess Parties, were absolutely fabulous and super talented. You could tell really enjoy what they do. They really connected with and engaged even the quietest kiddos.
